    About Cardiff

Cardiff is the Capital and largest City in Wales with a population of circa 340,000.  Home of the Welsh Assembly Government with 60 members which sat for the 1st time in 1999.  The building of the Cardiff Bay Barrage, creating a 500 acre fresh water lake with moorings for almost 3,000 boats, has seen some major investment in both the business and sports centres.  The Sports Villages' latest addition, to sit along side the recently opened International pool, is the Olympic standard White Water Rafting Centre.  Tourist attractions like Cardiff Castle, The fairy tale Castle Coch, The National Museum of Wales, Tecniquest and the Millennium Centre amongst many others, help to attract almost 14 million visitors annually.

Cardiff is still one of the fastest growing cities in Europe, and in 2014 will be the European City of Sport for the 2nd time.  Home to the fantastic Millennium Stadium (the only stadium in the UK with a retractable roof) for the hosting of sporting events from International Rugby & Football through to Motor Cross and World Title Boxing matches.  The City also plays host to Cardiff Bluebirds (football), The Blues (Rugby), Cardiff Devils (Ice Hockey) and Glamorgan Cricket Club. Just out side Cardiff is the Celtic Manor which recently hosted the Ryder Cup.  Alongside the sports, Cardiff is the media centre for Wales with world famous Dr Who sci-fi series filmed in many locations around the City.

The main areas of Cardiff are Cardiff Bay, Canton, Heath, Roath / Lakeside, and Adamstown / Splott
